facebook page for upcoming workshops
Posted by email on May 6, 2010Creek Freaks:
At the last V2K meeting, 15 people signed up for the Creek Freak program next weekend (see my last e-mail to you). Each person interested in this event needs to sign up on Eventbrite, as we are ordering food and T-shirts and I need to see who is coming to get the order right. In addition, please see the note below from Leah Miller. Leah is one of the faculty members for the event. We still have openings for this event. Persons who signed up at the meeting who still need to log into Eventbrite are: Spencer Kelly John Bradford Connor Roseke James Bradford David Bradford Kevin Downey Ben Fiedler April Graves Jonathan Jenkins Hunter Wille Brandon Walker Joshua Svenson
Note from Leah:
We went ahead and put up a “Creek Freaks” Facebook page to get ready for the workshop. We would like all of the adults and older kids involved to use the page to post ideas for better ways to put materials together for activities and run sessions for younger kids. We also would like adults and older kids to post information on upcoming/past field sessions with younger kids following the trainings (with numbers of kids participating), upcoming trainings for new volunteers (with numbers participating) and photos/videos of these events. Feel free to post your questions to each other, too.
We also would like the participating kids to post photos, stories, videos, and data collected on their streams through this site.
We will be promoting this site at the upcoming workshops. In the (hopefully near) future, we will be transferring this function to a much more robust and exciting web site connected to the League’s main pages. In the meantime, we would like to get as much as possible on the Facebook page.
It would be great if all of you could log in to Facebook, search for “Creek Freaks”, visit the page, and click “like”. Our Creek Freaks site has the closeup picture on boots next to a stream, with the words Creek Freaks in green over top of it. [Like is the new way to 'become a fan'.] Once we have 100 “likes”, we can have a dedicated url for the page that we can send out to everyone as a link. Feel free to ask any of your volunteers and venture crew students to “like” the page, too. Also, feel free to post items on there before the workshop. I would really like to get the site hopping prior to the workshop.
Thanks so much for your help!
